Ashlee & Pete to Share Eyeliner for Eternity

UPDATE:  Seems the father of the bride did more than officiate the Alice in Wonderland-themed wedding. An E! Online insider called the entire proceeding “The Joe Simpson Show,” complete with tear-inducing reminicenses of his cash cows daughters and a welcoming toss to his new son-in-law, who has clearly felt the slings and arrows of Simpson-esque fame: “Pete is a very patient guy.”

When Ashlee lost one of her William Noble earrings during the reception, “Pete got on the mic and told everyone to look for the earring…He said they cost more than the entire wedding!” The shebang shut down about 1:30 a.m., and as guests filed out to pick up their cell phones and cameras, they were handed a red box with a cookie inscribed, “Eat Me.”

It’s official. Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are no longer just parents-to-be, they’re Mr. & Mrs. After dueling bachelor and bachelorette bashes on Thursday, a Friday night rehearsal and a slew of Saturday morning party preps, on May 17, the lovers said their vows.

The nondenominational ceremony took place about 7 p.m. at Joe and Tina Simpson’s Encino, California, estate and was officiated by once-a-minister-always-a-minister papa Joe. “We’re delighted to confirm that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were married this evening in front of family and close friends,” a rep said in a statement to People.

Ashlee wore an ivory lace wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier, diamond accessories by Neil Lane, and Vera Wang dressed the bridal party. Maid of honor duty went to big sis Jessica, who showed with Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo despite a frenzy of rumors attesting to their split. Among the 150 in attendance were Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, Pete’s fellow Fall Out Boys and Scrubs star Donald Faison with his girl, Simpson sisters BFF CaCee Cobb. Pete’s English bulldog, Hemingway, served as ring bearer.

Helicopters swarmed overhead throughout the day, but white tents protected People’s costly exclusive on the official wedding shots. The whereabouts of the ceremony had been a source of tabloid fodder for weeks, as everything from Mexico to Santa Barbara to San Diego was proferred as possible locales. Guests were never sent official wedding invitations, just save-the-date cards. And all were asked to come in dark cocktail attire, in keeping with the evening’s glam but sedate theme: black rugs, white couches, black chandeliers and red roses, with a huge gothic cross serving as focal point.

Thankfully, Gremlins 2 memorabilia was nowhere to be seen, nor was there any mention of Ashlee and Pete’s bun in the oven, and the world remains on belly watch. The two have been so busy issuing wiggly baby nondenials itâs astounding they found time to plan their big day.

Safe to assume they saved some energy for the honeymoonâ¦hey, at least they can’t get pregnant.
