Eddie Murphy Signs on for 'Beverly Hills Cop IV: Trannie Patrol'
Eddie Murphy has signed on to reprise his role as displaced police detective Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop IV. Hopefully, this will be a direct sequel to the first one.
Didn't the last one take place at some sort of amusement park that had nothing to do with a Detroit cop bringing fish-out-of-water hilarity to Rodeo Drive? Even Judge Reinhold looked embarrassed.
Murphy signed on to the project last year, but Paramount Pictures has just announced a tentative Summer 2010 release. Brett Ratner, director of the Rush Hour films and X-Men: The Last Stand, is reportedly in talks to helm the project.
Two other directors being considered are Charlie Murphy, and this one guy who once did second unit on an episode of Touched By An Angel.
No word on whether Eddie will be raising money for his transsexual hooker outreach program, Eddie's Girls, on the set.
