Daily Grind No Model Life for Russian Rapunzel
Green-eyed stunner Ruslana Korshunova plunged to her death from her ninth-floor Manhattan apartment yesterday. She was 20.
The longhaired Russian model has graced the covers of French Elle and Russian Vogue and appeared in ads for Vera Wang, Christian Dior and DKNY, among others.
Initially, police said there were no signs of a struggle but deferred to a pending autopsy. After an investigation, they have ruled the death a suicide.
"Our hearts are with her family," her agency, IMG (which also represents Heidi Klum and Kate Moss) told the New York Post.
An ex-boyfriend told the paper he had spent her last evening with her and dropped her off at 5 a.m. after seeing the movie Ghost. If you recall the supernatural Demi Moore-Patrick Swayze weeper, you'll likely think that's a bit eery.
Especially since Korshunova had emoted on for months on a social networking site about lost love and the hole in her soul.
In one posting, the New York Daily News reports, she wrote, "I'm so lost. Will I ever find myself?"
In another, she was practically screaming for help: "It hurts, as if someone took a part of me, tore it out, mercilessly stomped all over and threw it out...My dream is to fly. Oh, my rainbow it is too high."
Always starkly enlightening to see that those who seemingly have everything often have nothing. She will be missed.
