Jessica Simpson: Abused ‘Elle’ Covergirl?

Jessica Simpson told the September 2008 Elle magazine that she’s been the past victim of abuse.

And she’s not talking about the trauma of seeing herself repeat-styled exactly as she was for the September 2004 issue of Elle!

Simpson claims that her lyrics to “Remember That,” from her new country album Do You Know, speak of real pain doled out by a real mean man.

“It doesn’t matter how he hurts you / With his hands or with his words / You don’t deserve it / It ain’t worth it / Take your heart and run,” the song goes.”

“I don’t want to talk about it, but I have definitely experienced abuse in a way that I would tell people to take their heart and run,” Simpson revealed to the interviewer.

If this is true—who was the culprit?

Her daddy, Papa Joe? Her former husband, Nick Lachey? Or her super ex-boyfriend, John Mayer?

Did the abuse go beyond having to listen to Mayer’s music?  And will John’s defense be that she made him listen to her CDs first?
