Britney Spears Nominated for Video of the Year
Britney Spears is facing off against the Jonas Brothers for their song "Burnin' Up," Chris Brown for his extended gum jingle "Forever" and the Ting Tings ("Shut Up and Let Me Go") for MTV's Video of the Year. Video of the Year is the most prestigious honor given at the prestigious MTV Video Music Awards.
In an interesting twist of events, the Pussycat Dolls video for "When I Grow Up" is also a competitor in the category. Britney was rumored to be making a cameo in the vid, but the guest appearance just wasn't meant to be.
In "Piece of Me," Spears keeps the dance moves to a minimum. Flanking look-alikes follow her around in an entourage. For fans hoping for Britney to recover from last year's embarrassing onstage VMA shenanigans, it is encouraging.
Sadly, the video of Britney below wasn't taken last year. It would undoubtedly have won in every category.
