Gwyneth Paltrow’s Hairy Situation

Gwyneth Paltrow has now joined the ranks of Sharon Stone and the Olsen twins as one of PETA’s most-loathed celebrities.

Paltrow’s participation in an ad campaign for Italian designer Tod—in which she covers herself in fur and wears fur-lined boots—has critter-huggers everywhere screaming for her pale little head.

“Gwyneth Paltrow should be ashamed. I can only assume that Paltrow either is ignorant of the facts or lacks human decency and compassion,” rails Mark Glover, director of Respect for Animals.

A spokesman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals adds, “We’ve written to her many times, and sent her videos showing how animals suffer for fur, but have never received a response.”

As of press time, Citizens For Our Betterment had yet to issue a statement regarding Paltrow’s ad.

A Paltrow spokesman was unavailable for comment, but maybe the animal-rights people should cut Gwynnie some slack. She’ll need whatever cash she made from the ad to buy therapy for her cross-dressing son, and her amiable rapport with the animal kingdom is well-documented.
