Christina Applegate Took Photos Before Surgery

The San Francisco Chronicle quotes Christina Applegate—who recently underwent a successful double mastectomy to remove traces of breast cancer—talking with Oprah Winfrey about her ordeal.

“I did my first and last nudie photoshoot at home,” reveals Applegate. “I made sure that I have close-up photographs of [my breasts] from every angle, so I can kind of remember them.”

Despite the treatment and the use of “expanders” that her doctors have implanted until Christina’s breasts can be surgically reconstructed, she admits to the emotional damage she feels.

“You’ve got scarring and there’s a lot of things you’re missing…and the shape is not the same, and it doesn’t feel the same, and it’s hard to carry your purse and there are so many limitations. It’s sad. I cry at least once a day about it, because it’s hard to overlook it when you’re standing there in the mirror.”

But at least, ultimately, she’s looking at things from a positive angle: “I don’t have to wear a bra…ever again.”

Best of wishes to you, Christina! You look amazing and there are many people out there rooting for your speedy recovery.
