Travis Barker: The Grateful Living

Former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, who survived a September 19 plane crash that killed four and left he and collaborator DJ AM badly burned, says that he was afraid of planes even before the wreck, according to Us Weekly.

“I hate planes,” the 32-year-old skin-pounder tells the mag. “My biggest fear ever is to be involved in a plane crash, so when that happened…well, I’m just thankful to be alive! I’m just grateful to be here at all.”

Currently undergoing treatment at the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles, Barker—who was released from an Augusta, Georgia burn center last Monday after undergoing initial treatment—adds that he’s “doing the best I can possibly be.

“I’m so anxious to get out of here…I’ve been in surgery after surgery. I have third-degree burns basically from my feet up to my waist and both hands.”

Worst of all, he says, is being separated from his two children, five-year-old Landon and two-year-old Alabama: “I’m going nuts not being able to see them and spend time with them!”

Barker nonetheless is keeping a positive outlook and looks forward to a speedy recuperation. “I’m trying to have a quick recovery and play the drums again and be able to hold my kids again,” he says.
