Madonna Puts the ‘No’ in ‘Buenos Aires’
In 1997’s Evita, Madonna played publicly reviled first lady of Argentina Eva Perón. And now, it appears, she’s letting the population of Argentina down in real life too.
Yahoo reports that the newly single 50-year-old has cancelled tonight’s show at River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires. The official explanation is that her sound equipment hasn’t arrived yet due to flight delays.
Madonna, who launched the Latin American leg of her Sticky & Sweet world tour this weekend with a series of shows in Mexico City, is expected to perform scheduled concerts tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday in the Argentinean capital. Tonight’s cancelled show may be rescheduled for Monday.
Hmmm. This weekend’s Mexico City concerts conveniently coincided with a sports-stadium opening in that city presided over by her current beau, 33-year-old New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez. Perhaps A-Rod is the bearer of the “equipment” that Madge finds crucial to her performance?
