Sean Avery Sidelines over Elisha Cuthbert Slam
Hockey star and fashion intern Sean Avery has been benched by the National Hockey League for a ribjab to his former flame, actress Elisha Cuthbert.
28-year-old Avery, who is currently under a $15.5 million dollar contract with the Dallas Star, incited the wrath of the NHL for not upholding (of all things) a gentlemanly demeanor that the game has come to expect.
In his native Canada to play the Calgary Flames, Avery lashed out to media after a practice last night regarding Dion Phaneuf, current beau to 26-year-old Cuthbert.
"I just want to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds," Avery said, "I don't know what that's about, but enjoy the game tonight."
In addition to Cuthbert now dating Phaneuf, Avery has also been linked to model Rachel Hunter, 39, now married to Los Angeles Kings hockey pro Jarrett Stoll.
Check out the verbal lashing:
The NHL responded with an immediate suspension, punishing Avery for a currently-undisclosed amount of time for "inappropriate public comments, not pertaining to the game."
If only all ex-girlfriends got such justice.
