Paula Abdul’s Been Sleeping Around
Home may be where the heart is, but in Paula Abdul’s case, the rest of her is staying far away.
The 46-year-old American Idol judge reveals to People that she hasn’t slept in her Sherman Oaks, California, home since obsessed fan and failed AI contestant Paula Goodspeed killed herself there three weeks ago.
“I’ve been staying in different homes and hotels, and I have security with me,” Abdul, who’s said that she wants to sell the home, admits.
Abdul says that news of Goodspeed’s apparent suicide—which she received at the end of that day’s American Idol taping—was traumatic for her. Goodspeed had tried to take her own life once before at the same location.
“It wasn’t fun,” Abdul concedes.
The “Straight Up” songstress goes on to say that Goodspeed isn’t the first enamored fan who’s attempted to get too close to comfort with her.
In 1993, “this gentleman was writing letters everyday from prison saying he was getting out in 120 days, then 119 days, all the way down to he’s getting out and he’s coming to get my mom and I,” Abdul reveals. “Thank God we were in Canada for my touring, and after that we were in Washington and he made a threat against the President, so he’s in jail for the rest of his life. He had tattoos of me all over his body.”
What; you mean hooking up with an inked-up jaibird isn’t the wisest idea in the world? Paula should really send a memo to her sisters in song.
