Morning Buzz: Ruffalo Death Ruled a Homicide

TMZ reports that the death of actor Mark Ruffalo’s brother Scott, which was originally thought to have been from a cocaine-fueled game of Russian roulette, has now been ruled a homicide by Beverly Hills PD. Ruffalo was found in his Beverly Hills apartment on Dec 1. with a gunshot wound to the head and died a week later. Two suspects, Shaha Mishaal Adham and Kristian Muradaz, have been arrested and then released. A motive is not known at this time.

Actor Jeremy Piven is too ill to continue his run in Broadway’s Speed-the-Plow. TMZ reports that Piven missed Wednesday night’s performance, yesterday’s matinee, and will also allegedly miss tonight’s showing of the David Mamet play. “Jeremy has not been feeling well and the doctors have advised him that he should end his run in ‘STP’ immediately, his rep said. Piven’s illness is reportedly mercury poisoning.

People reports that former Full House actress Jodie Sweetin recently underwent an emergency investigation by Orange County family court for allegations of substance abuse brought up by her estranged husband Cody Herpin. It was decided that Sweetin, a former meth addict, now has to raise Zoie, her 8-month-old daughter with Herpin, in her parent’s home or in the presence of her parents. Custody for Zoie has been ruled 50/50 by a judge between Sweetin and Herpin.

Us reports that a recent story in Star about former 90210 and Saved By The Bell actress Tiffani Thiessen being pregnant is false. “She is not expecting,” a rep says. “They [Thiessen and husband Brady Smith] would love to have a family someday in the near future, but right now she is focused on working.”

The Times Online reports that German film critics are panning Tom Cruise’s performance in the Nazi thriller Valkyrie in which Cruise plays an SS colonel plotting to assassinate Adolph Hitler. “The only thing that can definitely be said about this cinema adventure is that Tom Cruise, who has been damaged by his bizarre talk-show behaviour, may well continue storming the heights of the Scientology hierarchy as a thetan, but his image as an actor has been finally ruined by Valkyrie,” said Berlin daily Der Tages-spiegel’s critic.
