Diddy's Sober-Driving Crusade
Plan on getting blotto this New Year's Eve and don't want to risk a DUI?
If you'll be ringing in the new year in New York, Sean "Diddy" Combs wants to hook you up.
The New York Daily News reports that the billionaire rap mogul will be giving free cab rides to Big Apple drunks on January 31 in the name of public safety.
No, he won't actually be driving the cab. Combs, 39, and Ciroc vodka are teaming up with New York's Taxi & Limousine Commission to distribute $15 debit cards that can be used for single taxi rides. Which is awesome news for boozehounds who can't even set aside $15 from their drinking budget to ensure that they don't start the new year in jail.
Ciroc street teams in Times Square and Chelsea will begin handing out the cards at 11 p.m. and stop at 3 a.m. on January 1, or until supplies run out.
"New York is the world's most iconic New Year's Eve city, so let's lead by example and show everyone that a sophisticated holiday celebration doesn't just end when the ball drops, but when everyone gets home safely," Combs said of the program.
If New York is the most iconic New Year's Eve city, one might wonder why Combs will be spending the evening in Miami, but no use quibbling over a good deed.
At least he isn't offering drunks a lift in his nonexistent private jet.
