Katy Perry Nearly Robs Rihanna
Is Katy Perry about to find herself in another high-profile chanteuse catfight?
Yahoo reports that the "I Kissed a Girl" singer, 24, received—and was quickly stripped of—an award that was intended for Rihanna at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France, on Saturday.
Ouch! And all this while Perry is still trying to get over her breakup with Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy. Poor gal.
Perry was initially granted the International Song of the Year award for her jaunty tune "I Kissed a Girl." However, at the end of the event, the show's host announced that there was a mistake in the vote-counting process, and the award instead went to 20-year-old singer Rihanna (born Robyn Rihanna Fenty) for "Disturbia."
Wow; all the chaos and drama of a Minnesota Senatorial race, combined with the glamour of Cannes. It must have been quite a night!
Perry didn't completely lose out, though; she did snag Best International Album honors for One of the Boys.
Hey; at least she had a little bit of recognition to fall back on.
