Dakota Culkin May Have Been Drunk at Time of Death

Dakota Culkin, the 29-year-old sister of actor Macaulay Culkin who was fatally struck by a car last year, may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, People reports.

Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner says that Culkin was “more than likely impaired due to alcohol” when she was hit in the Los Angeles area on December 9, 2008.

Carroll indicated that Dakota had alcohol in her system, but did not divulge a specific blood-alcohol level. According to reports, Culkin had just left Brennan’s Pub, a Marina Del Rey, California, bar, when she stepped off the curb and was struck by a moving vehicle.

The driver of the car, who stopped and rendered aid following the accident, was determined not to be under the influence by police detectives at the scene of the accident.

Corral added that members of the Culkin family had told investigators that Culkin had been going to therapy for alcohol addiction.

(Substance abuse is a familiar theme in the Culkin family; in 2004 Macauley, now 28, was arrested in Oklahoma for possession of marijuana, Xanax and sleeping pills.)
