GoopWatch: Paltrow's Book Club, Madge Rules World
Thursday can't even come fast enough. Once again, gym-franchising Gwyneth Paltrow has blessed the Internet with her Goop goodness, this time chasing a piece of the Oprah pie
"I feel a bit swallowed up in January...the best way to escape (not to mention the least expensive, most hassle-free way) is to curl up by the fire with an amazing, transportive novel," Paltrow writes in her weekly newsletter.
But this isn't your garden variety Gwyneth's Faves—Paltrow reached out to her famous pals like Madonna and Christy Turlington for their choice fireside reads.
And just what makes these ladies fiction aficionados? Allow GP to tell you.
"Madonna Ciccone rules the world, is a loyal friend and a terrific mother," Paltrow explains of why Madge's choices of Mario Vargas Llosa's The Bad Girl and Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts would suit for the average book buff.
And what of Mrs. Ed Burns?
"Christy Turlington is an amazing friend, mother, and an activist who is pursuing her masters in Public Health at Columbia University."
The supermodel recommends William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury, as well as Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises.
