Kelly Clarkson Is Number One!

Today is a very special day for singer Kelly Clarkson, 26.

Her earnest new single, “My Life Would Suck Without You,” will make the biggest position jump on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart in the magazine’s history.

The song goes from #97 to #1, according to the music mag’s Web site.

It’s been downloaded digitally 280,000 times since debuting a week ago.

This surpasses the record Britney Spears recently set in 2008 with her “Womanizer” single, which leapt 95 spots to #1.

This more than makes up for Brooke Hogan’s brutal butchering of the pop gem, a throwback for Clarkson to the “Since U Been Gone” days.

Clarkson also broke this record before, back in 2002 when her American Idol triumph song, (“A Moment Like This”) leapt 51 places to the top spot on the chart.

MTV reports that a 30-second clip from the video for the song premired during last night’s American Idol broadcast. You can watch the whole video here.

And when you watch it (Clarkson flirts with her live-in bf, chucks his clothes out a window and then almost gets them killed while driving), let us know. Yay or nay?
