Megan Fox: One Crofty Lady?

Pretty much everybody seems to want Megan Fox these days—including the producers of the Tomb Raider movie series, according to Metro.

Industry insiders say that the 22-year-old cinema vixen, who’ll next be starring in the probable blockbuster Transformers 2, is a “strong candidate” to take over the role of busty archaeologist/adventuress Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider flicks, which are based on a popular video game.

The Tomb Raider series has been a reliable box-office draw for Paramount. The first installment, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, debuted at number one upon its 2001 release and has grossed $300 million worldwide. Its 2003 sequel, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, fared less well but still managed to turn a respectable profit worldwide.

Critics have been less enthusiastic about the franchise; Jolie picked up a Golden Raspberry award for her work in the films.

Which is likely one reason that Jolie, 33, would probably more than willing to hand over the torch, whip, and tight-fitting tank top to Fox. The mother of six has already indicated that she might bow out of the acting game if her maternal obligations dictate it, and of late she’s found credible success with more mature dramatic fare.

Besides, if Angie is really jonesing for a return to knock-down, drag out-action, she really need not look any further than this year’s Oscars ceremony
