Simpson Sued Over Botched Workout DVD
Jessica Simpson, 28, has recently been looking a little curvier than is unfortunately allowed in Hollywood.
She performed at the KISS Country Chili Cookoff in Pembroke Pines, Florida, in a pair of unflattering mom jeans this past Sunday.
Simpson's recent weight gain might be due to the fact that she allegedly opts to exercise drunk.
At least that's what a company called SpeedFit is claiming in a lawsuit.
Radar Online reports that Simpson was contracted to shoot and release a workout DVD through them in 2005.
But a source tells Contact Music that when the time came to shoot the aeroba-thon, Jessica showed up a little...under the weather. In fact, the word used was "tipsy." And her father/manager Joe Simpson is said to have refused to sign off on the project.
Now SpeedFit is suing Simpson for damages. CEO Alex Astilean claims that he has been left financially bereft since the botched DVD.
"I mortgaged everything I owned for this video, which has never been released and on January 29th I will be be losing my house. We cannot afford anymore a lawyer to litigate with them, they got me at the point were they want me to be, broke, and all I was trying to do is to make this country skinny and leave a decent life creating more good staff for this society."
Simpson was married to ex-husband Nick Lachey in 2005, and he was also reportedly asked to appear. Joe Simpson is said to have demanded that Jess' trainer (whom he also managed) appear instead.
"Jessica was a mess during that shoot. They asked her to come back and reshoot, but she refused, and that's why she's facing a lawsuit now," the source says. Astilean claims that Jessica was paid a million for the shoot. That's a lot of mom jeans.
