Marc Jacobs: Heavy on 80s, Light on Celebs
Always a safe bet for innovative fashion and a star-filled front row, Marc Jacobs hearkened back to the drama and decadence of the 80s with his Fall 2009 collection last night.
While the threads were splashy with shoulder pads and neons, the celebrity attendance was as minimal as monk robes.
It was previously announced by Jacobs and team that yesterday's presentation, part of New York Fashion Week, would be scaled back grandly. Even more worrisome—a notoriously late Jacobs started the show only one minute off schedule.
Fashion elites Anna Wintour and daughter Bee Shaffer took in the looks, as did Rachel Zoe and French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld.
The very same show last year was attended by Victoria Beckham, M.I.A., Kevin Federline, Ellen Pomepo, Molly Sims, Gretchen Mol, Slema Blair, Vincent Gallo and Debbie Harry.
We understand scaling back in these economic times, but should our star consumption suffer as well?
