Zac, Vanessa and Beyonce to Sing with Jackman at Oscars
E! Online reports that Zac Efron, High School Musical co-star and real life honey Vanessa Hudgens, Beyonce Knowles, and Mamma Mia! lovers Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper will sing with Oscar host Hugh Jackman in a Baz Luhrmann-directed musical spectacle on Sunday night’s telecast.
Jackman and Knowles have been rehearsing their act at the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York City. The entire group is scheduled to rehearse in Hollywood tonight, barring scheduling conflicts for Seyfried’s real life Mamma Mia man Cooper.
Director Luhrmann has the pedigree for such a number. He was said to have been specially requested by his Australia star Jackman to handle the number, and is well known for directing event movies such as Moulin Rouge! and Romeo + Juliet.
The only potential fly in this musical ointment is Efron. Sure, he’s reportedly going to be there to present the Oscar for Best Original Song. But the 21-year-old admitted in a Rolling Stone interview) that he’s not the person who sings for his “Troy” character in the HSM series.
Will he be lip-synching Sunday night?
