‘Hannah Montana’ Guest Star Defends Miley in Photo Flap

Mad Men actress and Hannah Montana guest star Alison Brie is backing Miley Cyrus in the ongoing debate over seemingly racist photos that leaked onto the Internet earlier this month.

“I think people are too hard on kids in the entertainment industry,” the actress told Usmagazine.com while attending the Lela Rose fashion show in New York City over the weekend. “It’s a really tough industry to be in.”

Brie continued, “If your average Joe was put under a microscope and scrutinized the way Miley Cyrus is, they’d be doing a lot worse” and that she’s willing to “give her the benefit of the doubt.”

Cyrus has twice apologized for the photos—claiming that she was merely “making goofy faces”—but the uproar has been slow to die. Southern California resident Lucie J. Kim has filed a class-action lawsuit seeking $4 billion in damages, while comedienne Margaret Cho issued a fiery lyrical retort to Cyrus on her blog.
