Mickey Rourke: Dog Was “The Love of My Life”

Mickey Rourke, nominated for Best Actor for his role in The Wrestler, appeared on the Oscar red carpet wearing a pendant around his neck that depicted his deceased Chihuaha – Loki.

The pooch, who had been Rourke’s right-hand woman all throughout his recent comeback, passed away on Monday at 18.

Rourke accessorized his white Jean-Paul Gaultier suit (he had sworn not to wear a tux, according to Ryan Seacrest) with his dog’s photo on a pendant. Very ZoomWorthy.

“The love of my life,” Rourke said about the dog.

“She made it til’ six days ago, and left me at a time when after 18 years, she knew I’d be alright. It’s bittersweet. I said to myself that I’d rather have Loki for two more years than an Oscar and I told her that.”

Besides his tragedy, Rourke was also asked about his zany acceptance speeches and what he might say if he won the Oscar.

“I don’t know what’s going to come out of my mouth. People are like ‘you remember me?’ I don’t even remember what I had for breakfast.”

Rourke also once again alluded to his odd obsession with fellow nominee Sean Penn.

“If I’m fortunate enough to get up there – Sean Penn, he’s a helluva an actor. If he’s up there, I’m gonna clap my ass off. I love him like a brother.”
