Mr. T Shares His Nuts With the Public
Let other celebrities play around with their United Nations missions; Mr T knows what the starving masses really crave.
The former A-Team actor, 56, descended on London today to dispense Snickers bars to an appreciative public as part of his Get Some Nuts UK Tour.
The mohawked pop-culture fixture, born Laurence Tureaud, has been a celebrity spokesperson for Snickers for some time. Last year, controversy erupted when a British ad he had filmed for the candy bars was deemed homophobic. In the ad, Mr T shoots Snickers bars at a speed-walker with a machine gun and declares, “Speed walking. I pity you fool. You are a disgrace to the man race. It’s time to run like a real man.”
The ad was pulled after a human rights group complained, but the video can be viewed below:
The Snickers giveaway isn’t the only selfless act that Mr T has committed lately. He recently explained to Sky News that he had given up his trademark gold jewelry out of respect for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
“As a Christian, when I saw other people lose their lives and their land and property…I felt that it would be a sin before God for me to continue wearing my gold,” he noted. “I felt it would be unnecessary and disrespectful to the people who lost everything, so I stopped wearing my gold.”
Oh, Mr T; even without the bling, you’re still a shining example of humanity.
