Kanye West: ‘Give Chris Brown a Break!’

Kanye West doesn’t care about Rihanna people. Or, for that matter, Nicole Brown Simpson people.

Reuters reports that the notoriously opinionated 808s & Heartbreak singer taped a segment of VH1’s Storytellers on February 13 and—shocker!—made a number of controversial statements.

At some point during the threee-hour taping, which took place at Sony Studios in Los Angeles and included 14 songs, West decided to weigh in on Chris Brown’s alleged February assault on his girlfriend Rihanna.

“Can’t we give Chris a break?,” West asked. “I know I make mistakes in life.”

Wow. The good news is, Kanye West has finally admitted that he made a mistake. The bad news is, it’s in defense of an alleged abuser.

But West wasn’t content to leave bad enough alone. He went on to heap praise on another celebrity who’s allegedly been a little rough with the women in his life.

O.J. Simpson, amazing,” West gushed. “Is he not? What he did, when he did, what he did. Was he not amazing though?”

Wisely, VH1 decided to excise the Chris Brown comment from the episode, which airs tomorrow. Oddly, the O.J. Simpson observation will remain.

There’s no telling what kind of smackdown West’s latest girlfriend, Amber Rose, will lay on him after catching the segment. Though it’s possible that she’ll be content to assault his eyes with her fashion sense.

In other Chris Brown-related idiocy, 50 Cent has also added his two bits to the debate.

“It’s past what would happen in a traditional dysfunctional relationship, just a little more,” the “Get Rich or Die Tryin'” rapper opines in an interview with ABC News. “She was beaten past someone hitting a person out of anger that they couldn’t control at the moment.”

“It was shocking. It was more than I could do,” the rapper added.

Now, now; don’t sell yourself short, big guy.
