Rod Blagojevich: Welcome to the Jungle?
Now this could make for some criminally entertaining reality TV.
The Associated Press reports that NBC is courting disgraced former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich, who's currently facing federal racketeering and fraud charges, for its upcoming series I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!
The program will bring together 10 celebrities and transport them to the Costa Rican jungle "to face challenges designed to test their skills in adapting to the wilderness."
Which could seem like a cakewalk for Blago, compared to his current recent challenges. Blagojevich, who was impeached in January, is accused of conspiring to commit several "pay-to-play" schemes, including an attempt to sell off the U.S. Senate seat vacated by current President Barack Obama. (Blagojevich recently pleaded not guilty to the charges.)
One possible hitch to the plan: Blagojevich's bond forbids him from leaving the country. However, a lawyer close to Blago's defense says the former governor is seeking permission from a judge to appear on the show, which could begin taping in June.
