‘DWTS’ Curse Reaches Out, Swats Ty Murray in the Eye
Ty Murray came dangerously close to joining his wife Jewel on the Dancing With the Stars disabled list this week.
People magazine reports that the 39-year-old rodeo star suffered a black eye while rehearsing with his partner, Chelsie Hightower, on Wednesday. It seems that, while the seven remaining couples practiced a group routine, Murray tossed Hightower in the air. Unfortunately, Chelsie’s microphone pack fell off and clocked Murray in the peeper.
“It was bleeding for a little while,” Murray reports, “and is slightly back and blue but I kept ice on it. It’s not a big deal to me because in bull riding you see that from time to time, but I guess people aren’t used to seeing a little blood in the ballroom.”
Dancer Derek Hough affirms that the bull-riding legend turned hoofer shook off the injury.
“He’s a cowboy, so he’s used to that kind of stuff,” Hough notes. “You know Ty, he’s like, ‘It’s alright. No problem. Don’t worry about me.'”
DWTS fans will recall that Murray’s spouse, Jewel, was forced to drop out of the competition in early March, after suffering tendinitis and a fractured tibia in each leg.
Jewel was replaced by former Girls Next Door girl Holly Madison—who went on to injure her ribs weeks later.
Hope these folks are getting combat pay.
