Students at the University of Missouri-Kansas City got a special surprise last Saturday, as "Disturbia" singer Rihanna showed up to make an unexpected appearance at a N.E.R.D. concert on campus.

E! Online reports that Rihanna joined the Pharrell Williams-fronted group onstage and performed an impromptu dance during the set at Williams' urging. Check it out in the video below:

"It was a complete surprise!" notes Ashley Lang, president of the university's Activity and Program Council. "We did not know she was arriving until about five minutes before she did."

Lang goes on to note that the recently troubled songbird "was totally friendly, said hello to everyone, and was dancing backstage in high spirits" prior to the show. Rihanna is said to have left with a group of female friends during the group's last song.

It was recently reported that Rihanna will begin performing her own concerts again soon, following her alleged February 8 beating by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. Looks like she's getting warmed up for her return to the stage.
