CNN reports that Bea Arthur, star of television's Maude and The Golden Girls, has died. She was 86.

Arthur's spokesperson, Dan Watt, confirms that the actress passed away on Saturday morning in her Los Angeles home with her family by her side. Arthur had been battling cancer.

No funeral arrangements have been made yet, but her relatives ask that donations be made to the Art Attack Foundation or PETA in lieu of flowers.

Arthur is survived by her sons Matthew and Daniel, as well as her grandchildren Kyra and Violet.

I have been around through most of Bea's career and the first time I saw here, I knew the world would be seeing more of Bea and we did. She was a gifted lady and loved by millions in the USA and internationally. I'm feeling a bit heart broken and sad but her legacy is her phenominal work over the years which gave everyone a lift, laugh and so so many feel good moments. Thanks Bea Aruther. I love you and will miss you very much. Love....CLJ
