Lauren Conrad Officially Runs From 'The Hills'

With her clothing empire and acting career off to a gangbusters start, Lauren Conrad officially won't be returning to The Hills next season.

Though it had been assumed to varying degrees of certainty that Conrad would be leaving the hit MTV reality show for months, Us Magazine reports that the show is taking a new direction—one that doesn't include her.

"Spencer [Pratt] and Heidi [Montag] will be newlyweds, so the stakes are higher than ever before for the two to make things work," MTV announced in a statement. "Viewers will find out life in Los Angeles only gets more complicated as friendships, relationships and loyalties are tested like never before."

The network assures that Hills regulars Montag, Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner, Stephanie Pratt, Lauren "Lo" Bosworth and Justin Bobby will be back—along with "fresh faces."

And while some audience members might pine for her when the show returns next season there is, predictably, no love lost between Conrad and some of her soon-to-be-former castmates.

"I just don't know if we need her," says Montag, with typical cattiness. "I know she hasn't been wanting to be doing this for a while, and [the life she really leads] is not on camera. So I think it's a closing chapter for her. I'm sure she'll have fun and success."

Which is a far cry, it's worth noting, from actually wishing her fun and success.

Have your say in the comments section: Will a Hills without Conrad be worth watching?

I can't stand Heidi or Spencer, I think Stephanie and Audrina are FAKE. And who the hell cares about Justin Bobby? So once Lauren leaves the show, the hills is also done for me. I might as well cancel MTV.

I have followed Lauren Conrad since Laguna Beach. Though initially I just watched Laguna Beach because it was interesting. Lauren was not really the star on that particular show because it was Kristen. But on The Hills I grew to really like Lauren because I believe a lot of us got to know her with her beautiful looks and her beautiful personality simultaneously. Her parents did a great job with her. Tell them, CONGRATULATIONS! in a big way. We would all love to have daughters like Lauren. I am a 46 year old parent of a only child who is now a wonderful young man attending Carnegie Melon. I believe the show will be less interesting without Lauren which means you are going to have to show a lot of "gorgeously handsome" Brody Jenner. At 46 I am also beautiful but I never thought of myself as a cougar before seeing Brody (LOL :)). Lauren will be greatly missed but I am sure she is probably relieved to finally have some freedom so I wish her all of the best. I will be buying her clothes for my nieces and me. I will be buying Audrinas and love her jeans .

I really hope she fails in whatever she might attempt to do after leaving The Hills. Except if she attempts to give me fellatio because that would really suck for me if she failed at that.

I won't be watching once Lauren is gone. The Hills is Lauren, without her it's just a bunch of fake whores.
