Lauren Conrad Officially Runs From 'The Hills'
Though it had been assumed to varying degrees of certainty that Conrad would be leaving the hit MTV reality show for months, Us Magazine reports that the show is taking a new direction—one that doesn't include her.
"Spencer [Pratt] and Heidi [Montag] will be newlyweds, so the stakes are higher than ever before for the two to make things work," MTV announced in a statement. "Viewers will find out life in Los Angeles only gets more complicated as friendships, relationships and loyalties are tested like never before."
The network assures that Hills regulars Montag, Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner, Stephanie Pratt, Lauren "Lo" Bosworth and Justin Bobby will be back—along with "fresh faces."
And while some audience members might pine for her when the show returns next season there is, predictably, no love lost between Conrad and some of her soon-to-be-former castmates.
"I just don't know if we need her," says Montag, with typical cattiness. "I know she hasn't been wanting to be doing this for a while, and [the life she really leads] is not on camera. So I think it's a closing chapter for her. I'm sure she'll have fun and success."
Which is a far cry, it's worth noting, from actually wishing her fun and success.
