Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton’s ‘One Tree Hill’ Exit: All About the Benjamins?
It sounds like the mystery behind Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton‘s exit from One Tree Hill has been solved—and the question mark appears to hav been replaced by a dollar sign.
TV Guide reports that CW entertainment president Dawn Ostroff addressed the actors’ departure during the network’s upfront presentation on Thursday—and from the way she tells it, it wasn’t the network’s decision to part ways with them.
“We tried to get them to stay; we would have been thrilled if they wanted to,” Ostroff told reporters.
Murray and Burton—who’d been with the show since its 2003 debut—were both in lengthy contract negotiations at the time of the parting. If the network had been making every effort to keep them happy, as Ostroff suggests, could there be any other reason for the split besides the money?
During a recent interview, Burton—who’s moving on shoot a Web series starting on Memorial Day—noted that “money isn’t necessarily a big motivator for me.” While she didn’t reveal the precise reason for her departure from the show, Burton noted, “Everyone was kind of agreeable about the situation.”
If the CW’s Ostroff is to be believed, that will probably come as news to the network.

I love one tree hill and the characters peyton and lucas. Its sad that there going. Hilarie is a great person no matter what people say. I hope hilarie and chad are friends in real life.
yeah, i want them back, maybe in season 8.. the story would be more interesting if they will be back for good.. i love both their characters plssssssssssssssssssss….
we love both of them, so we dont want leave from oth. it doesnt make sense with out them and the main character is Lucas so how can it be like this????

so many people including myself became so attached to one tree hill because there was at least one character we could relate to ourselves. Lucas and Peyton conveniently were the 2 i related to the most, they healed me when my heart was broken and showed me that love is still out there, no matter who you find, what’s meant to happen will. Peyton Sawyer and Hilarie Burton are both role models, neither one of them have ever seemed to be “self-centered” or money obsessed, she began on TRL for god sake this was her first real thing, Chad Michael Murry is the guy every girl dreams of finding, they were One Tree Hill, without them, the show just isn’t worth watching. Trust me, i live in Wilmington and see the show filmed all of the time, it isn’t as exciting to me anymore, although I do love Nathan and Haley, they just don’t put the emotion in the show that Peyton and Lucas always did.
