“The best gift I have ever given on Father’s Day is probably making my famous Armenian breakfast called Beeshee,” Kourtney recalled.
What makes this so special for Kourtney is that she is the only one in her family who knows how to prepare this dish.
“My grandmother on my dad’s side taught me how to make it and I am the only person in our family who knows how,” revealed Kourtney.
But what is Beeshee?
“It’s basically like a thin, crispy fried pancake that you pour tons of sugar on. It is so delicious and fattening,” explained Kourtney.
It also takes a while to prepare and Kourtney enlists the help of her sister, Khloe Kardashian, to make this dish.
“You have to make it the night before, let the dough rise, and then prepare it in the morning, which Khloe always does. So we do it together as a team effort haha. Because it is a bit of a process, we only make it on special occasions, and every year for Father’s Day, my dad would ask us to make him Beeshee…and of course we always did” said Kourtney.
Kourtney described the rest of the relaxing and fun day, saying, “My Dad always loved to lay out by the pool, so after Beeshee we would all put on swimsuits (yes, right after we were just fattened up lol!) and go lay around by the pool, blast music and relax. What I wouldn’t do to have those days back.”
Kourtney also shared her favorite father’s day gift for her stepdad Bruce Jenner.
“Bruce is a huge golf fanatic! Anything we get him golf related, he loves. Khloe, Kim and I got him a weekend of golf training with a special golf trainer once, and that was probably the best gift we have ever given him.”
And what about this year?
“I think this year we will make Beeshee and lay out by the pool while Bruce golfs. Just kidding Bruce, this is your day, we can do whatever you want.”
Although she is willing to do whatever Bruce wants, she reveals she is not willing to share her secret recipe.
“And I am not giving up my Beeshee recipe just yet…many of you have asked, but it’s a family secret :).”
But Kourtney has more on her mind today than fattening slabs of pancake-like treats today. She also reveals that, though the day is bittersweet because of her father Robert Kardashian’s 2003 passing, it also offers an opportunity to reflect on the good times she had with him.
“Father’s Day is just an extra reminder of how lucky we were to have such an amazing father in our lives as long as we did. I would give the world to have him back, although I do know he’s watching over us,” Kourtney writes.
Excuse us; we must have something in our eye…
