Gene Simmons Thinks Adam Lambert Should’ve Stayed in the Closet
Well, there goes any hope for an Adam Lambert/Kiss tour in the future.
Kiss frontman Gene Simmons tells AOL in no uncertain terms that he thinks American Idol runner-up Lambert made a big mistake by coming out of the closet in his recent Rolling Stone interview.
“He’s enormously talented, best talent American Idol has had, but I think he killed his career because now the conversation is not about his talent but about his sexual preference,” Simmons opines. “He’s done. You’re forcing people to deal with issues they may not be interested in. Life is unfair, and the masses don’t all live in L.A. They live in Wisconsin and Nebraska, and you’re on crack if you think the same rules apply there. My advice is still the same, shut the f*ck up, just sing and let people say whatever they want.”
Hmm. Pretty strong words, for a guy who wears more makeup than Lambert does.

Tell you what, Gene. When Adam’s tour rolls around he can just give Wisconsin and Nebraska the miss since they’re as gayphobic as you seem to think. There’s plenty enough folks left the world over who love Adam for his amazing voice and performances. It was the media that kept the gay issue on the hot burner, not Adam. It out, he’s out – Adam’s already moved on. Adam has a huge music career ahead of him – yours is petering out.

Unfortunately, Jim, part of the problem IS that “KISS has been around since pretty much the dawn of time…” (as you wrote). Gene Simmons has had his day, fittingly during the time when male chauvinists still had some fans. Relevance? Well, that’s a discussion for another time … What we’re talking about here is one who oozes pomposity and verbosity vs. one who is characterized by honesty and class.
Adam Lambert should’n have stayed in the closet, he was never in it! Why should he have to hide his sexuality? I want his music and I don’t care if he is gay – that’s his personal life. And he’s hot as hell! It’s good he has cleared this question, now people can focus on the import things – his music. Looking forward to his CD!
Mr. Simmons’ statement reeks of pure jealousy and homophobia. Fortunately most of the country has moved on, but there are still obsessed people like Mr. Simmons who live in the past. I think Mr. Simmons has a crush on Adam, and it scares him, eh?
I totaly agree with Gene: If not %100 then at least %70 of the Adam’s fans lost interest in Adam due to his “coming out of the closet”. If he had to stay in the closet then he would have had a chance to become a celebrity like America and the entire workd have not seen since Elvis. Too bad for Adam! Real bad!

Simmons was like saying that when he started being weird in the way he acted and dressed up on stage when performing, not to mention his yucky snake-like tongue, he also started ending his career! It just doesn’t matter when you are as talented and gorgeous as Adam. He is so charismatic that you can’t help respond to his sexiness. He is a great artist and he will be a Mega Star and being gay won’t stop us from loving to watch him perform, I would definately pay money to be at his concerts and I can’t wait for his CD this fall!! Adam Rocks!! And he is a really nice guy too, which is a big bonus.

I think Gene is right, Adam had the females and males in his pocket they both loved him and his singing style, he should have not said anything about his preferances and let them think what they want , It was not that important to tell the world that he is gay as long as he is happy with what he is and his life that all that mattered , now when people see him perform the first thing they are thinking is he so handsome and gay.
Gene’s not being a bigot, he’s just being honest. Adam took out all the controversy from his persona in that interview. I think he screwed himself by coming out.
