Kanye West: Ready to Inherit the Sequined Glove?

Kanye West: Ready to Inherit the Sequined Glove?-photo

Is Kanye West ready to snatch the King of Pop mantle from deceased singer Michael Jackson?

If a recent report is to be believed—and that's a massive "if"—it is so.

Ace Showbiz claims that the 808s & Heartbreak rapper took to something called Scrape TV to lay claim to Jackson's legacy in his usual humble manner.

"You know everyone loves and respects Michael but times change," West supposedly said. "It's so sad to see Michael gone but it makes a path for a new King of Pop and I'm willing to take that on."

So why does West reportedly think he's worthy of the task?

"There's nobody who can match me in sales and in respect so it only makes sense for me to take over Michael's crown and become the new King." The rapper then added, "First there was Elvis [Presley], then there was Michael, now in the 21st century it's Kanye's time to rule."

The report goes on to claim that West has reached out to the Jackson family for their blessing, but has so far not heard back.

Hmm. Kanye has never suffered from an ego deficiency, but this seems a bit much.

Readers, let us know in the comments section: Do you think Kanye West really wants to inherit the King of Pop title from Michael Jackson? And if he doesn't deserve the King of Pop title, who does?

That is a NO. Kanye doesnt deserve that title. Let Michael keep that title. Nobody else shouldn't try to replace the one who worked to get that title. Thats not right. Kanye is acting selfish. He shouldnt be jumping in replacing someone else. God don't appreciate that. He should just stay in his place. Kanye need to stay in his place with rapping. He dont need to take over no one else's title. I think Kanye is just talking. He isn't going to do that, if he did he selfish with no heart at all.

Kanye is a loser!!! NO ONE can EVER replace Michael...there is only one King of PoP and is Michael Jackson...infact he is not only the King of PoP but Michael is the king and that's the way it'll always be. Michael wasn't only a genius at music but he was a beautiful human being and had a golden heart...somthing which Kanye totally lacks and anyway Kanye's music isn't that great either...he's like wayyyyyyyyyyyy wayyyyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy below Michael. Him thinking that he can replace MJ can only be taken as joke and nothing more. Michael Jackson will always live and he can never everrrr be replaced.

[quote=Brian Quinn]No one will replace the original KING - Elvis Presley. He was the whole package - he had the talent, the looks, the voice, the name, the stage act, the charisma, the moves, could act when given the chance and was extremely humble to go with it which is more than can be said of Michael Jackson or Kanye West.. Elvis could, and did, sing in virtually every musical genre available to him whereas Jackson and West are extremely limited to a couple. Of course, Elvis was more than just an entertainer but quite an historical figure. He was the one who broke down social and cultural barriers in 1950's U.S.A. making it easier for all artists who followed in his footsteps including Jackson and West. Elvis paved the way for Dr. Martin Luther King in the 1960's. We will never see the like of Elvis again - he was truly 'sui generis'. WTF...Elvis woz da King of R&R, Bob Marley da King of Reggae and Youn Michael Da KING OF POP. Get a grip on yourself and look at the big picture..

Im disgusted, I really am. How can somebody say that they are going to take Michael's Crown espcially after he's just passed away, Michael should turn in his grave after Kanye West worked with him on some of his songs, that is so unbelievably egotistical and two faced. I cannot beleive he could say such a horrible and disgusting comment, I believe that he is too egotistical from jsut reading what he has apparantly said, how dare he slag off a musical legend behind his back, I wouldn't blame the family for not replying back, that is completely innapropriate and it goes to show his mindset and his way of thinking, if it wasn't for Michael Jackson, he wouldn't even be on the television in the first place, so how can he say that, hes getting well to big over his station. R.I.P. Michael, I just wish people wpuld stop bad mouhthing you, I was expecting people to leave you alone now you are gone, but obvsiously not, people have to make there dumb comments for attention. I think we should teach him a lesson and boycott his sales, to make sure we ruin Kanye's so called special egotistical dream.

Nice try Kayne..... Your record sales just dropped due to having no respect. If you can not show any respect how do you think your going to succeed in this world. What have you done as a humanitarian? Nothing that I can recall. To become the King you need to give back and not just take for yourself. No one in the music industry is willing to do what Michael had done for the under privilage. Michael gave back and not just in his own country but all over the world. Kayne are you known in all parts of the world? I think not !!!!! Not to bash Kayne but get real HE WILL NEVER STAND A CHANCE AS BEING THE KING. The King is not disrespectful. The King is respectful, honest, willing to help others and is full of love. I would not allow my daughter to go to any of Kayne's concerts. At least Michael was clean fun for all ages. Kayne you need to grow up a little because you surely did not learn a thing from Michael while he was walking this world because you lack respect. MICHAEL JACKSON IS THE KING AND THERE IS NO ROOM FOR ANOTHER ONE!!!!! Sorry Kayne. RIP MICHAEL aka "KING OF POP"

ummm i don't think knaye made those comments...I would question scapetv's credibility. This is exactly the kind of BS Michael Jackson constantly talked about that made is life hell while he was here. Further more to the poster that says "Elvis paved the way for Dr. Martin Luther King in the 1960's" I am not sure I can follow that. I think Elvis had that "presence" that we see in extraodinary people that grace this earth, but I am not sure how there is a practical connection with him and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

It seems like he's not saying that he's going to replace Michael Jackson, just become the 21st century version of him.
