Jeanine Mason Wins ‘So You Think You Can Dance’
Congratulations, Jeanine Mason!
The Associated Press reports that 18-year-old Pinecrest, Florida, resident Mason was crowned the winner on Thursday night’s So You Think You Can Dance season finale, beating out such fleet-footed competitors as Brandon Bryant, Evan Kasprzak and Kayla Radomski to win $250,000 and the title of America’s Favorite Dancer.
“I’ve spent my whole life looking up to amazing dancers and amazing people, and I’ve always wanted to be a role model,” Mason said during her emotional victory speech. “And just to have 3,000 people in here …”
More than 21 million viewer votes had been cast the night before.
“I never saw Jeanine coming, I never saw you coming,” judge Adam Shankman gushed. “And you have dominated, week after week.”
Judge Nigel Lythgoe, meanwhile, told Mason, “You are feisty, you are strong, you are tomboyish!” Which we’re assuming was a compliment.
