Zac Efron: Putting a New ‘Spin’ on His Acting Career?
Zac Efron may be adding a novel twist to his acting résumé.
E! Online reports that the former High School Musical hunk is considering turning Robert Rave’s upcoming debut novel Spin—which is due in bookstores on August 18—into a feature film.
If the deal goes through, Efron would star as Taylor Green, a Midwest transplant and recent college graduate who lands a job toiling for a dictatorial publicist in New York. So it would be a bit like The Devil Wears Prada. Except set in the world of PR. And, well, it’s hard to say who’s prettier, Efron or Prada star Anne Hathaway.
The plot would see Efron getting entrenched in shady situations involving sex, drugs and lies. One scene in the book reportedly finds Green taking an unusual approach to negotiations in a bathroom with a not-quite-straight colleague.
That’s a long way from High School Musical.
