Robert Downey Jr. Sinking His Teeth Into the Vampire Chronicles?

Sounds like Robert Downey Jr. has been bitten by the same vampire bug that the rest of the entertainment industry has succumbed to.

Bloody Disgusting reports that the Iron Man actor is looking to play the vampire Lestat Du Lioncort in The Vampire Chronicles, a revamping, if you will, of Anne Rice's popular novels.

If the deal is struck, Downey will be inheriting the role of Lestat, an 18th century nobleman-turned-bloodsucker, from Tom Cruise, who played him in 1994's Interview With the Vampire. (Stuart Townshend also had his turn at playing Lestat in the 2002 adaptation Queen of the Damned.)

Hopefully he won't suck in it. Or will suck in it, whatever the case may be.

Let us know in the comments section: Do you think Robert Downey Jr. would make a believable vampire?

I'm all for it as long as they do a better job of the movie than the butchered adaptation of "The Queen of the Damned" quite frankly the Ann Rice Vampire Chronicles Kick "Twilights" ass and deserve to be treated with the same consideration as the Classic "Interview with a Vampire"

As a long time fan of The Vampire Chronicles, my first reaction is "no way!", but I said that same thing about Tom Cruise (before he was nutty, even), and was really pleased with his performance. RDjr is a great actor, and makeup is incredible these days, so I'm going to stay calm, kick back, and see the film before I criticize the possible casting.
