Dirty Dancing Remake in the Works

Dirty Dancing Remake in the Works-photo

First the powers that be in Hollywood decided to tinker with the Kevin Bacon classic Footloose. And now, Coming Soon reports, another '80s dance-oriented flick is getting the remake treatment.

According to the site, Lionsgate is currently developing a remake to the 1987 film Dirty Dancing, which starred Patrick Swayze as dance instructor Johnny Castle and Jennifer Grey as love-struck camp attendee Frances "Baby" Houseman.

No word on casting yet, but tell us in the comments section: Who do you think should star in the remake? Or should it be made at all?

During the last few days we have heard so many celebs commenting on Patrick Swayze's sense of humor, his warmth and acting and dancing abilities. All of that, plus a warmth came through his various roles. It can't be faked. Please leave DD alone. The original holds up even today. I smile when I hear the music remembering the warmth, the dancing, the music - I do not believe it can be duplicated! It was an original.

Looks like everybody thinks it's a bad idea SO DROP IT! I'm a big fan of classics like dirty dancing and pretty woman. I think they should review the people who would even consider this sacrilegious idea.

[quote=Marianne LaBeouf]UGGGGHHHHHH Automatic boycott!!! This is one of my favourites and I can't stand to see it ruined (because I know it will be)....and c'mon doesn't anyone have an original idea anymore??? This is truly a terrible decision and I agree, think of something new , this was a very special movie and the people that were in it can never be duplicated.

Hollywood needs to leave classics like Dirty Dancing and Pretty Woman alone. Hollywood you can't remake these movies, these movies were done perfect. The only way that these movies could be done is if the ORIGINAL CHARACTERTS were in them and they were a sequel to the first.

IF they remake it, they'd better not put anybody 'known' in it. Put two unknown actors as the leads, so that it doesn't suck. I
