Catherine Hardwicke Tackles Little Red Riding Hood

Catherine Hardwicke might have missed out on directing New Moon, but she’s getting to work with wolves anyway.

Variety reports that the Twilight helmswoman will be taking on a “gothic retelling” of the Little Red Riding Hood tale, to be titled The Girl With the Red Riding Hood.

The film, which will be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s company Appian Way, will have a “teenage love triangle” at its center.

Huh; sounds a little familiar…

That’s not the only iron that Hardwicke has in the fire. She’s also in talks to direct a big-screen version of Hamlet and, apparently, a movie adaptation of the ’80s TV classic 21 Jump Street.

Hmm; maybe she can convince Robert Pattinson to take on the Johnny Depp role of Tom Hanson? Something tells us that kid has potential…
