Kristen Stewart Was Too Cool for School
And Kristen Stewart wonders why so many people find her off-putting.
The 19-year-old Twilight star admits in a recent interview that she hated high school, because she couldn’t stand being around the other kids.
“I was glad to leave school. I couldn’t relate to kids my own age,” Stewart—who dropped out to focus on acting and continued her studies with a tutor—says. “They are mean, they don’t give you a chance. I think the social aspects, I haven’t missed out on. I am around people constantly. I meet hundreds of people at work. Once you have done with school, you realized it’s just a smaller version of life.”
Stewart adds that her classmates’ jealousy over her blossoming acting career didn’t help any.
“When I was there, I was never the type of girl to be walking around talking about acting, so I didn’t get a lot of hassle until someone found out. I was trying to play it down, but I definitely got, ‘Oh she’s such a b*tch.’ They’d never spoken to me, but instantly they were like, ‘You are so rude.’ I am not rude.”
No, just incredibly blunt at times.
Readers, have your say in the comments section: Did Kristen Stewart make the right decision in dropping out of high school?

High school sucks glad i dropped out!!!!
*sigh* story of my life right now..i HATE high school..geez! =_=
Better late than never. She got her GED when she was 19, last fall. Not too bad really when you consider some kids are held back or fail, either with learning problems or behavioral issues, but Kristen was working in movies. She’s not my favorite in acting, but she seems really cool and sweet to her fans, a bit shy, but I was very shy when I was her age too. I agree with the comment above about staying off the weed, not a good example to the zillions of kids that idolize her. So, ditch that, keep smiling, being yourself and working hard.
I guess if your parents will allow you to and then afford you a tutor like her hollywood dad can, but most of us have to stick it out whether we fit in with anyone or people like us or not. Suck it up and get to class, even if someone calls you a B or whatever. I think her advantage definitely was her daddy works in hollywood, and no I’m not jealous because I’m very proud of my parent’s careers, they just did not let me skip out of school for other activities or because whoever liked or did not like me, too bad, that’s how the world works.
I applaud her for being honest about her past. But with you guys glorifying her and whatnot – let’s observe this for a second. She basically ran away from school because people were picking on her. So what is she trying to teach us? That dropping out of school is alright, just because you can’t socialize? It’s called “school” for a reason; you go there to acquire skills for a possible career. OK, so she’s an actress now. Good for her, then. But different people have different routes in life. Socializing in school is merely a plus in high school. I’ve been made fun in school, but that doesn’t stop me for taking advantage on my education and doing what I want. You guys have been blinded.
Exactly. You have to learn to deal with it because its a part of life. Wherever you work or go to college or both, there will be people that may or may not like you for different reasons, basically, freedom of opinion, and you have to learn to deal with them and your own life constructively. There are always girls in school that people are jealous of or talk about for one reason or another, and they don’t drop out and get a tutor….. geez.
Emma Watson is a better role model.
