Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Is a Go
Captain Jack's back!
The Wrap reports that Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance at Disney's D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, on Friday, riding a giant pirate ship and decked out in his Captain Jack Sparrow costume to deliver some might good news to the assemblage: the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie is going full steam ahead.
Of course, when he's making $55 million a pop for the Pirates movies, why wouldn't he sign on for another one?
What's more, the movie has a title and a release date—Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will sail into theaters in summer 2011.
As long as he was on hand and dressed like a pirate for the occasion, Depp couldn't resist hamming it up for the crowd a bit, referencing Disney's other upcoming project, Princess and the Frog.
“Where’s the talking frog?” Depp muttered while weaving around the stage in faux (?) drunkenness. “Where has the frog gone? I like those—tastes like chicken."
