VIDEO: True Blood's Carrie Preston: "There's No Competition" Between Her and Hubby Michael Emerson
True Blood actress Carrie Preston may be married to Michael Emerson—whose portrayal of Benjamin Linus on Lost has made him one of the hottest commodities around—but she swears that the dark specter of professional competitiveness has not clouded their union.
"There's no competition," Preston—who portrays Merlotte's waitress Arlene Fowler on the hit vampire drama—told Celebuzz on the red carpet at this year's Emmy Awards.
"I've always dreamed of being on a show that was as popular as Lost, and so, here I am. And we have crossover audiences. The same types of audiences like both shows."
In fact, Preston notes, she even gave Emerson—who picked up an Emmy this year for his Lost work—some pointers when he was hired on for the part of Linus:
"I was a big fan of Lost before he was even on the show. I had to bring him up to speed when he got the job."
Preston does admit, however, admit that one thing irks her about watching her hubby on Lost—the constant pummeling that Linus receives on the series:
"What makes me cringe is seeing him get beat up every week on the show. It's so disturbing, because it looks so real. I'll get a little weak when I see it; I start to black out."
Just imagine how he feels.
