Lauren Conrad’s “L.A. Candy” Coming to the Big Screen

As a Hills cast member, Lauren Conrad has exposed her life on the small screen. And now her story is coming to movie theaters. Sort of.

Variety reports that Temple Hill Entertainment has acquired the screen rights to Conrad’s heavily autobiographical novel L.A. Candy, which chronicles the story of “Jane Roberts,” a 19-year-old who moves to Hollywood and quickly becomes a reality-TV sensation.

Says Temple Hill honcho Marty Bowen,

“Lauren, who became an icon in that reality show world, came to us with a structure of how to tell the story in an interesting fashion that was separate and apart from the book. We loved her take. Her book is an honest portrayal of what it must be like to set out to be normal, then sign on to become famous and eventually realize, wow, this isn’t at all what I’d planned for myself.”

Bowen adds that Temple Hill is currently looking for a screenwriter for the project, but Conrad will be involved in shaping the script.
