Michael Jackson Scores Five AMA Nominations

Michael Jackson may be gone, but he sure isn’t forgotten. Especially by the AMAs.

The nominees for this year’s American Music Awards were released on Tuesday morning, revealing that the deceased King of Pop has racked up an impressive five nominations, including Artist of the Year. (Jackson will face off against Kings of Leon, Taylor Swift, Lady GaGa and Eminem in that category.)

Jackson’s greatest-hits collection Number Ones is also up for Favorite Album in the Pop/Rock and Soul/R&B categories, while Jackson himself is up against performers such as Eminem, T.I., Jamie Foxx and Maxwell for Favorite Artist wins in the Pop/Rock and Soul/R&B categories.

The 2009 American Music Awards will air on ABC November 22 at 8 PM/7 PM Central.
