VIDEO: Miley Cyrus Has Never Listened to Jay-Z

Miley Cyrus has a confession to make—her hit single “Party in the U.S.A.” isn’t nearly as autobiographical as it may seem.

In the song, the Hannah Montana star famously sings about how her homesickness  and tension are alleviated when a Jay-Z song comes on the radio.

However, as it turns out—and you’d better sit down for this—such a scenario never occurred.

During a recent interview in Louisville, Kentucky, a reporter asked her which Jay-Z song had inspired the lyric, and Cyrus confessed,

“I don’t know, I didn’t write the song, so I have no idea. Honestly, I picked that song because I needed something to go with my clothing line. I didn’t write it [and] I didn’t expect it to be popular, originally. It was just something that I wanted to do and I needed some songs and it turned out for the best…I’ve never heard a Jay-Z song. I don’t listen to pop music. ['Party in the U.S.A.'] is not even my style of music.”

Well, you have to at least give her points for honesty. But what’s next? Will she now tell us that she’s never actually engaged in a hoedown throwdown?
