Tiger Woods' Accident May Have Been Caused by Wife's Road Rage
TMZ reports that there's more to the accident—which occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Friday outside of Woods' Florida home—than was initially reported.
According to a source, Woods admitted in a conversation that he had crashed his Cadillac Escalade into a fire hydrant and tree after getting in a fight with his wife, Elin Nordegren, over rumors that he'd been cheating on her.
Oh, and earlier reports that Nordegren had tried to free her husband from the SUV by smashing the back window with one of Tiger's golf clubs? That might not be entirely accurate.
The source reveals that Woods admitted that, prior to the smash-up, he and Nordegren got into a blow-up over the affair rumors, at which point the Swedish model scratched up hubby's face. (Woods was treated for facial lacerations at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Florida, following the accident.)
Woods apparently tried to flee the beat-down in his Escalade, but Nordegren followed him outside and struck the vehicle with a golf club several times as he tried to drive away. At which point a "distracted" Woods struck the fire hydrant and tree.
Huh; well, there goes our theory that the accident was caused by a tryptophan coma that Woods had slipped into after eating too much turkey at Thanksgiving dinner.
Woods and his wife are expected to be questioned about the incident by police sometime this weekend.
