Celebs Are Helping Haiti, and So Should You
Following the devastating, 7.0 earthquake that struck Haiti on Tuesday, thousands have opened their hearts and wallets to provide aid to its victims—and the kindhearted denizens of Hollywood are no exception.
Not surprisingly, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie—always ones to help out in a time in need—have provided the most notable example, pledging $1 million to the organization Doctors Without Borders to help in the relief effort. In a statement to the press, Pitt noted,
"We understand the first response is critical to serve the immediate needs of countless people who are now displaced from their homes, are suffering trauma, and most require urgent care."
They're not the only ones. The Hollywood Foreign Press—which organizes the Golden Globes every year—has donated $100,000 to the Yele Haiti relief fund, which is led by Haiti native Wyclef Jean.
Other celebrities pitched in with information and pleas for their fans to contribute. Kim Kardashian has posted contact information for various relief organizations on her official Web site, noting, "We can all do a little something to help!"
