Robert Pattinson and Simon Cowell: Making Beautiful Music Together?

Want to hear Robert Pattinson’s golden pipes on a full-length album? It could happen soon—and we’d all have Simon Cowell to reluctantly thank for it.

The tart-tongued American Idol judge (for the moment, anyway) has reportedly offered the New Moon heartthrob—who’s been known to dabble in music from time to time—a record contract, in an effort to bring Pattinson’s songs to a world in dire need of such diversion.

The only catch? R-Pattz, being a man of limitless integrity, is leery of hitching his star to Cowell’s pop-friendly wagon. According to a source:

“Robert is reluctant to be turned into a pop star—and takes his music very seriously. He is a bit wary of signing up with Cowell who is, of course, associated with (British talent show) X Factor and pop.”

Aw, c’mon, Rob; think about how awesome it would be to eventually tour with Adam Lambert. And if anyone can make the R-Pattz/Susan Boyle duet that’s been dominating our dreams lately happen, it’s Simon Cowell.
