The results of Brittany Murphy's autopsy are finally here, and as we all suspected, drug use is to blame. According to TMZ,

"Brittany Murphy's cause of death has been determined -- an accidental death caused by "community acquired pneumonia," iron deficiency anemia, and multiple drug intoxication. The L.A. County Coroner concludes on the subject of "How injury occurred" -- "Drug intake."

And, unfortunately, her death was entirely preventable and husband Simon Monjack seems to be at fault for not helping treat her when he could have!

"Sources say the primary causes of Murphy's death were pneumonia and severe anemia. L.A. County Coroner officials believe Brittany's condition was "treatable" but no one took her to the hospital in time.

As for the multiple drugs found in her system, we're told they were both prescription, including medicine for cramps, and over-the-counter medications, including cough syrup. Our sources say the drugs "pushed her over the line" but the underlying problems were the pneumonia and anemia."

Are you as unsurprised by this as we are? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

Although Monjack is a vulgar slob, I have to agree that blaming him for Brittany's death is irresponsible. She was a mentally competent adult, and probably would not have taken herself to a doctor without being bullied; although it may have been warranted, under the circumstances, one can hardly frown on Monjack (or Brittany's mother, for that matter) for not bullying her. She was undoubtedly malnourished and weakened by the ongoing dieting that seems almost universal among actresses, and seems to have not paid much attention to any warnings she may have received. Her body simply could not handle this level of mistreatment. The outcome is extremely sad, but blaming others is hardly going to help the situation, or even prevent similar occurrences. It would instead be far better to support those close to other at-risk actors in their efforts to urge--even 'bully'--their friends or relatives into seeing qualified medical professionals.

Irresponsible reporting. The ME was quite clear that the drugs didn't cause her death. If it weren't for her being sick, the drugs would not have killed her. Also, its presumptive and unfair to blame others for her lack of medical treatment. She should have gone to the doctor, but her husband clearly did not know how sick she was. Maybe she didn't know either.

i was just thinking about iron deficiency yesterday. getting enough iron is vital for women. strange that with all the meds she was prescribed, a simple blood test would have caught this. ladies, please get enough iron! get a blood test! irresponsible rx writing docs should have cought this simple fact.

I firmly believe that Brittany wasn't killed by drugs, rather she was killed by sharks and this is merely a eco-terrorist cover-up to protect those murderous creatures. Sharks kill people for fun. I hope they burn in hell.
