The New Spider-Man May Need a Booster Seat to Fight Crime

Maybe they should change the name of the franchise to Spider-Boy?

Meet Logan Lerman, the star of the upcoming Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and, if he's to be believed, the latest in a growing list of candidates to take over the role of Spider-Man from Tobey Maguire, now that the studio has decided to give the hugely successful movie series a reboot.

The 18-year-old sat down with Access Hollywood's Billy Bush on Thursday to explain that he and Sony have been in talks for him to don the tights:

"There have been a few discussions, it’s definitely something I’m looking into.. It’s one of my favorite characters ever and I’m a huge fan of the series. I’d love to have more conversations about it. I’m definitely very interested in it."

Well, sure; can't you just see him striking fear into the hearts of bad guys? Or at least inspiring them to tousle his hair and play "got your nose" with him?

What do you think, readers? Is Logan Lerman right for the role of Spider-Man, or would it be better for him to focus on other projects for the time being—like, say, getting his learner's permit? Let us know in the comments section!

Logan Lerman is a fantastic actor, especially in dramatic roles. Despite his small role in Meet Bill alongside actors like Jessica Alba and Aaron Eckhart (his character doesn't even have a name!), he completely steals the movie. He even managed to bring some depth to a poorly written script like The Lightning Thief! I've seen him do bad boy just as well as he does awkward nerd, and I think he'll do wonderful as a young Spiderman. I wasn't sold on the idea of a reboot when the last two are still fresh in my memory, but if Logan does get the part I know I'll drag myself to the theater opening night.

Logan's a very talented actor but he looks too young if they're going to continue the story. Besides Kristen Dunst would be too old for the part if he's going to be Spiderman, then they will have to recast Mary-Jane Watson. How about, Emma Watson???

Agree with Marianne. Peter Parker was 15 when he became Spider-Man in the comic and was even a teen in the first half of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man so that doesn't bother me. Personally, I rather they continued the story with Spider-Man 4 but if they are doinga reboot, it makes sense that Peter is younger. Want to see what Spider-Man 4 could have been? Read my feature-length screenplay here, loosely based on "Kraven's Last Hunt" - ifiwrotespiderman4.com

Although I'm not excited about the Spider-Man reboot, I think Logan could pull it off. I think he's got the right look, and he's about the right age. Remember Peter Parker was a teenager when he became Spider-Man, so I don't know what all this "Spider-Boy" nonsense this writer is talking about.
